Stanley Hotel Wedding Cake

Wedding cake deliveries seem to take us to all kinds of cool Colorado destinations. Over the weekend, we had the pleasure of taking the scenic drive up to Estes Park, which means on the way back you get to check out Oskar Blues (quite possibly the best brewery in the world). Working with Seize the Day Event Planners was great as usual. Click here for more info on them. We have been to the Stanley Hotel several times and although it’s beautiful and awesomely historic, I have a hard time not thinking of The Shining, however…

Today we have Irish Coffee Cupcakes, based off of one of my personal favorite drinks. But that’s a different story all together. This fine cupcake has an organic espresso cake, Jameson’s Irish Whiskey Whipped Cream Icing and topped with a dusting of our fine Boulder Organic Coffee organic espresso. It has that perfect blend of blood pumpin meets blood thinnin good times you come to know in a good Irish Coffee drink. Say you have a full rock show schedule to attend at SXSW and you need the two things that any self-respecting fan needs before a day’s worth of rockin: Coffee and Whiskey. And if you’re first show is at 11am, you need both. If you happen to be at the festival this year make sure you go to Halcyon Coffee, Bar & Lounge for Austin’s finest Irish Coffee. But I digress.

Next up we have the infamous Irish Car Bomb that we have done in years past. This year we’re keepin it local (beer-wise at least), using local stouts for the cake, Baily’s Irish Cream Buttercream as icing and topped with a four-leaf clover*

* Yes, a 3-leaf clover is pictured here, but that’s cause you can’t always be lucky. But we promise there will be a four-leaf clover in the near future.

Here’s a shot of a little “grandpa’s cough medicine,” using the Whiskey-infused icing.

Last weekend we had a table at the Boulder Wedding Showcase held at the Boulder Theater. This year we launched some fun, new ideas for people who are looking to try some other creative options for their desserts at their wedding. Click HERE to download the new and improved wedding menu.

Beer Bottle Cake: Magic Hat #9

Here’s a cake our chef did over the weekend. This beer cake, modeled after Magic Hat’s flagship beer #9 (the very first microbrew I have ever had back in ‘95), was super fun to create and this results are like a tasty “cake bomber.” Bottoms up!
