Happy Bike to Work Day!
06.22.10
FROM Community Cycles Web Site:
Bike to Work Day, June 23rd, 2010
Bike to Work Day in Boulder Colorado is filled with fabulous events celebrating the bicycle. A full list of Bike to Work Day Activities is below.
From 6:30 – 9 a.m., more than 45 breakfast stations throughout town will be serving up free breakfast to those on bike and foot. Be sure to register (hot link) and make your commute count.
You say you work at home and can’t bike to work? No matter, just trade in a car trip for a bike trip and register anyway. It counts. The more cyclists Boulder can count on Bike to Work Day, the more support we get locally and regionally for bicycle projects.
Walk & Bike Month & Bike to Work Day is not just about biking to work, because some people just can’t do that. It is about choosing the best way to get around each time you leave the house. If you have to go to Erie, maybe you can only drive. But if you live a half a mile from the gym, try biking there next time.
Given the all the personal, environmental and global impacts of private automobile use, it is now more important than ever that Boulder maintain and build on its strong commitment to walking and biking. It starts with every person committing to walk or bike at least one day in June and letting our city government know that being able to walk and bike safely and easily in Boulder is one of the things that makes our town great.

As the winner she will receive 12 free cupcakes!

Park(ing) Spaces // June 11
06.09.10
Boulder Businesses to claim parking spaces as no parking zones (from Community Cycles Website)
On June 11th from 10 am – 2 pm, bicycle- and pedestrian-friendly Boulder businesses will commandeer 18 parking spaces on “Park(ing) Spaces Day.” Businesses and workplaces will transform a street or private lot automobile parking space into a “park” area for the day. Cefiore Yogurt/Kristen Lewis Architects/Tee &Cakes will feature Yogurt Samples, Coffee and some surprises… Park(ing) Spaces will average eight feet by 17 feet.
This is a light-hearted attempt to raise awareness of a serious issue, the trade-off of space allocated for automobiles versus space for human activities. This event symbols our desire to rethink how we use our streets. This is a big part of what Walk & Bike Month is all about, raising awareness for a more sustainable community.

05.19.10
CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED. RESULTS POSTED SOON…
This here photo of a random pairing of tasty sugar cookies just invites some kooky tales to be drummed up and told to our faithful customers. We created this contest for our creative customers, which seem to be just about everyone who walks through the door… The idea is simple:
Create a story based on the three objects/nouns/characters you see below: A Rooster, A Mushroom and A Lightning Bolt. They do not have to be cookies in the story. The three items can be included in any basic story format (funny, weird, drama (oh, no!) etc).
Deadline: June 1, 2o10 (sounds far away, but it’s not really)
Guidelines: 500-1000 word story that includes all 3 “things”
Submission: info at teeandcakes .com (subject: Cookie Tale)
Prize: Tee & Cakes Literature Panel will review the best story for a prize of one dozen (12) cupcakes.
