C LAZY U RANCH WEDDING

This was a very cool wedding with so many details and carefully executed planning that this was one of the most awesome ones we have done at Tee & Cakes. We made homemade Oreos, macarons, cake pops, baby cakes, sugar cookies, donut holes… oh and a cake, too. The wedding planner was Stacy Mccain. Click HERE for tons more photos from the wedding.

Nice Wedding Review

Tee and Cakes, just off the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, was my chosen vendor for cupcakes and cake for our wedding. They were awesome!!!

After trying another bakery in town, my mom and I came to Tee and Cakes for a tasting. We knew immediately that this was the place: the cake and icings were an absolute dream AND the price was right. What a bonanza!

I went with cupcakes because, piece for piece, they are significantly less expensive than a decorated cake ($2.50-3 per cupcake vs. $5.50-9 per slice of cake) – and they present much better than an icing-slimed sliver of a traditional wedding cake. In addition, I’m kind of known for my baking prowess – I HAD to have an amazing cake at my wedding or I’d never live it down.

Tee and Cakes delivered the cupcakes and one 8″cake (for cutting!) to the reception on time and arranged them on silver trays as discussed. They also remembered to set a couple cakes aside for my cousin with nut allergies.

My guests loved the arrangement – and the cakes! They could hardly wait until the cake cutting – and then went back for seconds!! Let’s face it – most of the time there’s tons of extra cake left over… not this wedding! We were lucky to have a couple of the vanilla/vanilla cakes left – the chocolate/chocolate and choc/peanut butter ones were history before the first dance!

After the wedding, I had nothing but rave reviews about the cake… it was a hit and I highly recommend Tee and Cakes in Boulder for any cake need (they can do cakes, cupcakes for any occasion!)

If You Have Something Nice To Say…

Day in and day out the Tee & Cakes team is hard at work on anything from a latte to wedding cakes. We really appreciate it when folks take the time to say such nice things. This one popped up in our inbox today….

I felt I had to sit down and email you to tell you how much we all so enjoyed your desserts at the wedding. Everything was so delicious and had such a good after taste. I am not a dessert eater but I have to say that it is rare that I give out compliments for desserts. Even the presentation was beautiful. My only disappointment is that you are not on the East coast where I would be a frequent customer of yours.

I hope the next time when I visit my granddaughter in Boulder, I can stop in to have one of your fantastic desserts.

We Appreciate The Appreciation

On a weekly basis, I’m not sure how many times our shop (inside and out) gets immortalized by passersby, customers, foodies and photographers alike. Perhaps hundreds. Cell phones and SLRs come out. From the professional to the everyday social media star, we see it all. It’s great to see the documented images out there on the intertubes, though few and far between. But not all the good shots get uploaded. Often the photos must go into the various digital wastelands such as: trash, sort later, or upload all to various facets of online solutions. We never see what other people see: our shop from their new eyes.

This one particular photo captures the shop in a rare moment and time. The lights are on, but no one’s around. There are completely new items in the shop, just hours old, visible in this photo yet to be documented before now and are now so. The moment is still. But not for long. Baking must go on. Cupcakes to be iced. Coffee and Espresso to be served. A billion things need to happen before anything else.

The light outside is blue and cold, despite the 90 degree recorded heats of the day. The light inside is yellow and warm. And it was warm, near 90 degrees just the same inside as it was out. There are no people in the shot, no coffee, no cupcakes, nothing that we are known for and that people see us as. But a shot of the typography that the owners of the shop choose to illustrate to the people passing by is just as important as any detail to come or ever was.

That’s one of the great reasons this shot is so right. There are more. Many more. But for now, long live Trade Gothic 20 Condensed Bold.

The Good Word

Lately, there seems to be an influx of nice folks letting us know how much they have been enjoying our products. It’s great to hear seeing how hard everybody works to ensure a tasty, quality product. We appreciate all types of feedback, comments or concerns. Hit us up on our contact page.

Here’s a student who misses our small-town goodness:
I am a student @ Naropa who is doing a semester exchange in NYC, and let me tell you…. in spite of being hailed as the continental capital for all things foodie,  there is not a single cupcakerie in all of my explorations of the five boroughs that comes even close to the sheer deliciousness, artistic quality, or success in flavour innovation, of your perfect little cakes. Just wanted to say i miss you and just to let you know in general how much you rock.  See you in the fall literally as soon as I return.

And here’s another one, short and sweet:
Your cupcakes are so adorable; I just wanted to stop by & say Hi.
