Wedding Cake // Wild Horse Inn

The heat in Boulder lately has been brutal. We had the good fortune of delivering a cake to Winter Park this weekend for a wedding at Wild Horse Inn. Although there wasn’t anything wintery about the trip, it was way nicer up there — maybe 15 degrees cooler. Also, this picture is an experiment in cell phone technology. We forgot the regular camera and all I had was a LG flip phone. It ain’t no iPhone but I think it gets the idea across.

Grant-Humphreys Mansion Wedding

The Grant-Humphreys Mansion at 770 Pennsylvania Street in Denver is as important for its architecture as for its association with two prominent names in Colorado history, James Benton Grant and Albert E. Humphreys. By the turn of the century, when the Grants commissioned architects Theodore Davis Boal and F.I. Harnois to design their new home on “Quality Hill,” Americans had begun building in the Beaux-Arts style, borrowing elements from the high architectural periods of the ancient world and Renaissance Europe. The Grants’ Beaux-Arts mansion is an exuberant mixture of elements, combining a brick facade with terra cotta balustrades, projecting balconies and 20 foot columns. The 30-room mansion was completed in 1902 at a cost of $35,000.

February Wedding

This weekend we catered a wedding at a new (to us) venue in Denver. Mile High Station is a cool setting with brick and ironworks. Complete with high ceilings and open floor plan, it was the perfect setting for a wedding with a classic elegant cake, our famous bacon cupcakes and mustache pops! We got the orchids from Sturtz & Copeland.

Sweet Blog Post…

From the Celebration Studio

Weekly Fave: Tee & Cakes
Delicious is an understatement. I think that “heavenly” is a better way to describe the cupcakes from Tee & Cakes, a Boulder-based bakery and pastry shop. Imagine melt-in-your-mouth, light and fluffy frosting on top of a perfectly moist cupcake that is bursting with flavor. Sounds yummy, doesn’t it? And the cupcakes look pretty, too.

I brought in these cupcakes for a surprise 60th birthday party I planned last weekend and all of the guests raved about them. Of course I bought a few extras for myself to take home….and both my husband and I lasted no more than 10 seconds before devouring all of them. I am not normally a sweets person, but I could not resist these cupcakes. Seriously. Try one and you’ll understand why!

Cupcakes are a great dessert option for parties and events because they don’t require plates or utensils. Guests can easily eat them while mingling and working the room. And if you’re looking for an alternative to the traditional wedding cake, cupcakes still give your guests that wedding cake fix, but with a slightly modern twist.

Just remember to save a few extras for your favorite wedding and event planner! : )
