WEDDING BLISS – PAIRING CRAFT BEER AND WEDDING CAKE

When Andy Sparhawk, the Brewers Association’s Craft Beer Program Coordinator, contacted us a few weeks ago to do a cupcake and beer pairing it was one of those moments when you can say, “damn, I love my job.” As a group of 5 we ate 18 cupcakes and made a good sized dent in a very large supply of strong beer (see photo). The result was a pretty cool experience of really thinking about what you are eating and drinking more as a cohesive marriage of taste, texture and compatibility. The pairings, while they almost always went well, sometimes surpised you in a very cool way. And, as Andy mentioned during the tastings the “Ah, Ha!” flavor combinations that seemed to arrive once a certain cupcake and beer were paired up together. All this hard work of eating cupcakes and drinking really great beer led Andy to come up with this article on Craftbeer.com. As an avid beer drinker I can say that we’re super proud and excited to be included in this article. Long live independent beer and cupcakes!

On my last morning in Colorado, my friend took me to a little place called TEE and CAKES. I am sure that between the picture above and the name you can figure out what type of business they are in. I will certainly say that it was one of the best cups of coffee that I have had at a coffee shop, and most certainly a very good cupcake, especially since it was baked at altitude.
I mean come on, who wouldn’t want to dive mouth first into this thing? It has chocolate and bacon on top of it! Seriously, if you are ever in Boulder I would most certainly recommend checking this place out.
